Saturday January 2nd and kicking off 2016 in style is one of the most well known and longest running Tribute bands in all of Canada, Tres Hombres: Tribute to ZZ Top! The month of January at the Linsmore Tavern will feature all American made Tribute bands and ZZ Top definitely falls into that category! There are ZZ Top Tributes and there is the original ZZ Top Tribute!
Tres Hombre was one of the first tribute bands in Canada founded in 1984. They have done 47 Canadian tours, toured for 5 years in the US, Finland, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Johnnie Walker, on guitar is a founding member of the band. Phil Michael took Gary McCracken's place in 1986 and has been their beat meister ever since. Al Sare on bass...a great addition to their rhythm section. Both Johnnie and Al take turns on lead vocals.
The band has played many interesting venues during their 31 plus years...included are maximum security prisons, Archembault and Donnacona in Quebec. And a very exciting set at The Steelback Grand Prix opening for Michael White and the White.
Come check out this legendary Tribute as they play the Rock'n Blues music of one of the all time great American bands! Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door! You can buy tickets at the Linsmore Tavern or right here: BUY TICKETS!!
The Linsmore Tavern is open on New Years Day and we have an incredible band performing that evening for the very first time! Redsteps will be playing that evening and they will bring their bluesy, country-tinged rock'n'roll music to the Linsmore Tavern and kicking off live music for 2016!
REDSTEPS are a Toronto, ON based band playing a mix of harmony laden rock and roll, folk, country, and blues tunes. Gigging relentlessly over the three past years, they have recorded and released a three song self-titled EP as well as a full-length eponymous debut album, released in June 2014. Belting out three-part harmonies and backed by lively, guitar-driven grooves, they embrace a sound that reflects both city and country. With reverence for classics like The Band and Neil Young, as well as modern rockers Wilco and Ryan Adams, REDSTEPS provide an emotional, rootsy feel with a healthy dose of honest rock ’n’ roll.
Since the band’s inception REDSTEPS have crafted their sound by singing songs late into the night, and refined their performance with a steady regimen of gigging. They’ve won over crowds of all sizes, from classic Toronto venues such as the Drake Hotel and the Cameron House, to festivals like Steam Whistle’s Roundhouse Craft Beer Fest.
Their short EP was recorded at both Verge Music Lab and Harris Institute in 2012. Over the next year they began working with Mike Langford, owner and engineer of The Pawnshop Studio in Kensington Market; they were able to collaborate in the studio with Mike on their first full-length album, while tracking in D.I.Y. fashion at their rehearsal space near Queen St. West!
