The Story of the Fabulous Knockouts

For many, the 1980’s was the ‘me’ decade. For four young men in black jackets and skinny ties it was the ‘we’ decade. The (not yet Fabulous)
Knockouts spent most of that decade criss-crossing Ontario and many points east and west spreading their unique brand of rock and roll. Honing their craft while playing with the likes of Bo Diddley, Del Shannon, Peter Noone and many others, the boys wowed audiences everywhere they went.
Alas, like many good things, this to came to an end. As the years passed, their musical journeys took them in different directions. Although their paths crossed many times, the four never played together again. Until now.
In 2007, they decided to see if that same magic would still be there. It is. As recent gigs have shown, the band can still rock as hard as ever with a sound so tough it cuts the air like a knife. Or, change gears abruptly and play a ballad so sweetly that grown men cry. Still playing a mix of hits and rarities from the mid 50’s to the early 70’s they bring an intense energy mixed with a sense of fun to everything that they do.

The Fabulous Knockouts are:
Ø Michael Zweig: Guitar, Vocals
Ø Jim Nielsen: Bass, Vocals
Ø Terry Martell: Drums, Percussion
Ø Victor D’Arsie: Keyboards, Vocals

Amsterdam Breweries Indie Night with Sarah Wicket, The Standalones and Psychotic Authority!!

Tuesday July 14, this week's edition of Indie Tuesday's at the Linsmore Tavern is sponsored by Amsterdam Breweries and will feature 3 incredible acts! Kicking off the evening is country/pop singer songwriter Sarah Wicket, following her is Alternative/Indie 3 piece band The Standalones and featuring Rock headliners from Hamilton Ontario, Psychotic Authority!

Sarah Wicket, the small town girl from Beaverton, Ontario has been singing since she was a little girl, but professionally for over 10 years. She picked up guitar when she was 15 and hasn't put it down since. You could say her music has a little bit of Carrie Underwood with a Taylor Swift twist. Sarah just released her first EP and will be performing songs from it this Tuesday night!

The Standalones are Vic Ciampini/Guitars, Darko/Vox and Bass, Giles Collins/Drums. All 3 members were inspired and influenced by the punk/diy ethic of the late 70s and early 80s which paved the way for much of what we call "alternative" music today and this is reflected in their songs which navigate the waters between Social Distortion/Jesus and Mary Chain/The Pixies/The Cure and most things in between.

Based out of Hamilton Ontario, Canada Psychotic Authority is Claudia Roxs (singer/songwriter on lead vocals) Richard DuCroix (songwriter/lead guitarist) Kevin Brazolot (bassist/backing vocals) and Doug Bennie ( drummer/backing vocals). Instinctively, their creative collaboration galvanized into a prolific collection of songs that will rock you, move you and encourage you to Ride Free, never giving up hope. This seasoned indie rock band just completed production of 5 new songs with the legendary tone-guru, Nick Blagona, who creatively engineered, mix and mastered their self titled debut EP. Experience live performances of all the new material, some yet not recorded at one of their up and coming shows.

Last week was a full house and we are expecting the same for these 3 amazing, diverse Indie acts! There's a ton of buzz around Indie Tuesdays at the Linsmore Tavern, so come and check out what everyone is talking about! No cover, the show starts at 8pm!

Motion Device "The future of Hard Rock", Live at the Linsmore Tavern!

Saturday July 11th, is going to be a historical date at the Linsmore Tavern!! 10 years from now, we will remember the day that Motion Device played the Linsmore Tavern! Mark this date on your calendar and make sure you get your tickets for this show, because Motion Device is the future of Hard Rock music and seeing them early in their careers in a small venue will be something that you will never forget!

It's not often that you come across a rock band that's lead by a 13 year old female singer. Well that's exactly what Motion Device is. Sara, along with her 16 year old brother David, 18 year old sister Andrea, 21 year old cousin Josh and 21 year old family friend Alex make up one of the most unique rock bands on the planet. They've been performing for more than 5 years and have a long set list of originals and cover songs that really rock the house. Their music contains a lot of unique twists and turns from soft to very heavy and that's what makes Motion Device so captivating. They're planning very big things in the near future so stay in touch and get ready to ROCK with Motion Device!!!

Here is some of the things people on the internet are saying about Motion Device:

"Wow, This is so special. First, it's a thrill and an honor to be represented with such historical figures. I'm touched, but more than that, what a beautiful track. It is so pure and honest. I'm looking forward to hearing more."
Steve Vai, responding to Motion Device single "Mr. Misunderstood"

"In 1974 music critic Jon Landau wrote in what would turn out to be a clarion call of Bruce Springsteen, “I saw Rock ‘n’ Roll future…”. This is a similar call, Motion Device is today’s future and a band we should watch."
Jim Cherry, The Examiner

"So, I checked out the video, and wouldn’t you know it — there’s this 9-year-old girl singing “Sacrificed Sons,” and I’m @#!*ing blown away!"
Chris Harris, Gun Shy Assassin

"One clip that stands out is their cover of Dream Theater’s “Sacrificed Sons”. Sara does a solid job singing LaBrie’s parts (especially for a 9 year old), though the rest of the band is very impressive as well."
Zach Shaw, Metal Insider
