Peter Elkas Band with Paul, Doug and Phil at the Linsmore Tavern!

Thursday September 6th, the Linsmore Tavern is excited for a fantastic night of indie music! We are bringing in some of the most talented indie musicians in this country and we can't wait to kick off the school year with this evening! The Peter Elkas Band will be performing for the very first time at the Linsmore Tavern and we have heard so many amazing things about this talented original band! Also Paul, Doug and Phil will open the evening with a set of original music! The show starts at 8pm, there will be no cover!

Paul Doug and Phil is a trio featuring Canadian guitarist Paul Linklater (Pinecones, Bidiniband) and his longtime buddy/collaborator bassist Doug Friesen (John K Samson). Philippe Melanson (Bernice) is the featured percussionist and he brings major dynamics.  weird worlds!

Just like that, Peter Elkas Band is back.
Reconvening for their first release since 2011’s acclaimed Repeat Offender, Peter Elkas and his buds have conjured up theLion EP, which owes some of its heartfelt rock, pop, and soul moves to the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Chrissie Hynde, Bonnie Raitt, Nick Lowe, Huey Lewis, and Sam and Dave.
Unlike some desperate trend chasers, from his days in the legendary Canadian cult band Local Rabbits, Elkas has always known his voice and trusted who he really is—a witty, romantic, old school soul rocker. Maybe that’s why he can hang out with Springsteen in New Jersey or collaborate with people like Charlie Sexton and Joel Plaskett. Blood brothers know their own.
Lion is the digital only introductory section of a planned full-length (Lion Lion; coming fall 2018), and was produced by Elkas at his home studio, Magnum’s Guesthouse. In terms of the Elkas-ography, here the tempo, pitch, and volume are up with a new-wave feel in spots, soul-rock in others, but ultimately reference points give way to carefully-crafted songs about strained adult relationships, their foundations, and the inevitability of loss. And wicked solos too.
The spirited EP features Elkas on guitars, keys, and vocals, Jeff Heisholt (Trews, Terra Lightfoot, Skydiggers) on keys and vocals Gavin Maguire (Trews) on drums and vocals, and Jeremy Little (Jason Collett) on bass. Special guests include Joseph Shabason (War On Drugs, Destroyer, DIANA) on saxophone and Tom Moffet (Arkells) on trumpet.
